brain myths

Brain Myth #1
Seniors are the only ones that need to worry about memory.

clear

Fact:
Not so fast!  Decline in memory can occur as early as age 30.  While the symptoms usually become more obvious with age, people of all ages can benefit from being proactive about their brain health and participating in brain building activities.

Fact:
Not true, we use 100% of our brain.  This misconception came from a famous author named William James who said “the average person rarely achieves but a small portion of his or her potential”.  This comment on human potential incorrectly evolved to the belief that most of us “only use 10 percent of our brain.”

Brain Myth #2
We use only 10% of our brain capacity.

Brain Myth #3
Neurons in your brain die as you age.

clear

Fact:
They don’t have to! There are about 100 billion neuron cells in your brain that process and transmit information.  We used to think that once we lost neurons, they were gone forever, but thankfully, these neurons can continue to grow as you age through a process called neurogenesis.  All you have to do is give them proper stimulation.
